The first of many exciting announcements for the Austin, Texas duo, Street Sects have revealed their plans to kick off 2018 on the road with transgressive industrial group 3TEETH and punk-hop twosome Ho99o9. The North American tour spans late March into April and marks Street Sects' first tour since their 2017 embarkment with hip-hop/noise pioneers Dälek.
Street Sects won't be traveling without a couple aces up the sleeve-the sample-drive punk duo will be playing choice cuts from their 2017 EP Rat Jacket (The Flenser). The 12-inch features four songs that mark a stylistic leap for the thunderous partnership, sidesteps gnashing noise in favor of indulgent post-punk. Edges have been softened, melodies are decked with hooks, and Leo Ashline's wanton vocals have been thrust front-and-center. Delving into loyalty, trust, betrayal, paranoia, and the innate selfishness of man, Street Sects have lost none of their grit amidst Rat Jacket's sonic detour. Additionally, they'll have their forthcoming 7inch Things Will Be Better In Hell in tow which features two songs that pick up where Rat Jacket left off; harsh, aggressive synths and screams crossing paths with a knack for pop songwriting (listen on BrooklynVegan).
Street Sects exploded onto the scene in 2013 after vocalist Leo Ashline emerged from the fog of a thirteen year battle with addiction and began collaborating with friend and multi-instrumentalist Shaun Ringsmuth. Disgusted with life but eager for catharsis, the duo embraced the experimental attitude and disillusionment of early industrial music pioneers, eschewing traditional rock music instrumentation and arrangement in favor of modern sampling technology and harsh electronics.
Stay tuned for more updates.
