Today see's the release of the music video for Mickey Kojak's latest single Ghost, a slow burning tune described as "rain patter that builds to a soaring heartbeat" by Triple J's Linda Marigliano and is set to feature on his upcoming sophomore EP. The clip, created in collaboration with his professional partners in visual-crime, yeahsure, compiled of over 2880 mangled still images, is an excellent pairing to the characteristics of Mickey's music. A simple concept, executed with care and precision. Watch Ghost here.
2017 has been an exceptionally busy year for Mickey Kojak, with an EP still to come. March saw the release of his club-certified floor filler, 'Save Your Breath' which received solid support from radio and digital platforms, clocking up half a million plays on Spotify.
The latest release 'Ghost', which premiered on Majestic Casual earlier this month, pushes the boundaries of Mickey's songwriting and musicianship abilities, resulting in a record that is a chaotic but beautiful cacophony of sound, unlike anything we've heard thus far. The lyrics draw upon the " longing we feel for the things that are out of our reach and how our perspective on relationships with places and people changes over time, for better or for worse."
Mickey recently embarked on a national Australian tour alongside local electronic muso Motez, where he debuted an immersive solo-live show, filled with far too many keyboards and all the good vibes. He will be backing this up over summer with a run of headline dates to top off what has been an incredible year.
