Aubrey Logan Announces WHERE THE SUNSHINE IS EXPENSIVE Out 3/22 Image

Jazz/pop vocalist/trombonist Aubrey Logan announced today the release of her anticipated sophomore album Where The Sunshine is Expensive. Set to release on March 22nd on Resonance Records, Where The Sunshine Is Expensive is essentially a love letter to her adopted hometown of Los Angeles. Logan unveiled the first taste of the upcoming album with the lead single "Understand," Logan's tongue in cheek take on honesty in the city of sunshine.

"I wrote 'Understand' at a time when I was feeling particularly angry at the music industry but I wanted to work through it in song," Logan says with a laugh.

Her mischievous side comes out in the vocal arrangement, where her backing singers punctuate her more irreverent moments, and in the lyrics when she sings, "I don't want another yes means no." It's a serious subject but Logan insists on not taking onself too seriously.

Where the Sunshine Is Expensive was recorded live at the legendary East West Studios in Hollywood, in the very same room where Frank Sinatra recorded "My Way." It all happened in front of a live studio audience over two days, with world-class musicians including guest appearances by jazz legend Dave Koz and vocalist Casey Abrams.

Logan is commonly referred to as "The Queen of Sass," as her concerts are a mix of excellent musicality, jaw-dropping vocals, expert trombone-playing, and a breathtaking array of originals and original takes on cover songs. Her debut album Impossible shot to the top 10 on the iTunes, Billboard and Amazon charts, and her 2017 track "Habenera" was included in Amazon's Best of 2017 Jazz Tracks. Her appearance on Summer Horns II, from A to Z (as a special guest of Dave Koz on Concord Records) became the #1 selling Contemporary Jazz Album.

Logan has shared the stage with numerous luminaries including Pharrell Williams, The Boston Pops, Josh Groban and countless others. She has performed more than 250 shows since 2016, touring as a guest star with Postmodern Jukebox, with Dave Koz and his all-star lineup along with selling out her own shows in venues all over the US and Europe. She will perform select shows in NY and California in support of Where The Sunshine Is Expensive, and will also be featured on Dave Koz and Friends at Sea in Australia (with Tower of Power, Bebe Winans and other stellar performers).
