Since the early '70s, Asleep at the Wheel has been the most important force in keeping the sound of Western swing alive. The group has not only preserved classic sounds that had all but disappeared from country music, but has also updated the music, keeping it a living, breathing art form. In reviving the freewheeling, eclectic sensibility of Western swing godfather Bob Wills, they have earned nine Grammy awards, 20 studio albums, and 20 singles on the Billboard country charts with over 1.5 million records sold. Typically featuring eight to 11 musicians, the group has gone through myriad personnel changes, under the passionate, four-decade leadership of Ray Benson. It has recorded two albums of Texas-centric holiday music. Additionally, the band is touring the country this year, promoting their new Bob Wills tribute album Still the King. Expect a wonderful evening that combines Asleep at the Wheel's most popular songs, new material, and holiday favorites such as "Christmas in Jail," "Merry Texas Christmas Y'all," "Mele Kalikimaka," "Swingin' Silent Night," and many more.
