Artist Lineup Announced for SONIC TRANSMISSION FESTIVAL III

Sonic Transmissions Festival III, Austin's most adventurous music festival, continues to break boundaries with its multi-genre artist lineup. This year's exciting lineup features jazz genius Joe McPhee, Austin punk veterans Lung Letters, Cumbia sensation Carmelo Torres y Los Toscos, jazz-indie rock ensemble Eivind Opsvik's 'Overseas', renowned Chicago trumpeter Jaimie Branch, banjo and guitar virtuoso Brandon Seabrook, New York jazz-punk outfit Rodenticide and more. Sonic Transmissions Festival takes place Thursday, September 14 through Saturday, September 16 across four Austin venues. Each event promises an unparalleled, mind-blowing music experience fusing the best of punk, experimental jazz, futuristic hip-hop, and psychedelic cumbia all under one roof.

• Thursday, September 14, Barracuda, 611 E 7th Street, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.: Kick-off Party, exploring the latest in adventurous punk, noise, and incendiary improvised music from around the world. Co-presented by Self Sabotage Records and Astral Spirits. Artist lineup: Joe McPhee/Susan Alcorn/Ken Vandermark, Rodenticide, Lung Letters, ILOG, Ingebrigt Håker Flaten's 'Time Machine', DJ Mutarrancho, and Charalambides (the iconic duo of Tom and Christina Carter) featuring Joe McPhee, performing together for the first time!
• Friday, September 15, Kick Butt Coffee, 5775 Airport Blvd., from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.: Psychedelic Bogota Cumbia Dance Party where deep tradition meets experimentation. Co-presented by Epistrophy Arts. Artist lineup: Carmelo Torres y Los Toscos, Carmelo Torres, Brandon Seabrook, DJ Pedrito y Su Tumbao, DJ Gala Galeano.
• Saturday, September 16 at Kenny Dorham's Backyard & Victory Grill, 1106 and 1104 E 11th Street, from 2 p.m. to midnight: The Best of Freedom Jazz - classic meets new wave on the historic East 11th Street District. Artist lineup: Matt Butler's 'The End Of The World Orchestra', Jawwaad Taylor / Stefan Gonzalez, Black Unity Ensemble, Counter Exchange with Henna Chou, Jaimie Branch, Carl Smith and Tarik Aossey, Eivind Opsvik's 'Overseas', Jaimie Branch, Anteloper.

Founded and curated by internationally renowned musician Ingebrigt Håker Flaten (The Thing, Atomic, The Young Mothers) and presented by Austin's revered independent record label Self Sabotage Records, Sonic Transmissions Festival has quickly become the musician's music festival, providing a platform for artists to perform, collaborate, and unite through music and culture.
