New Amsterdam is excited to partner with Art of Élan, a pioneering chamber music series which seeks to bring unique music events and the excitement of classical music to diverse audiences. For their 10th Anniversary season, Art of Élan has named NewAm's own NOW Ensemble as their ensemble-in-residence, which involves performance opportunities, commissioning opportunities, and possible recording support for the ensemble.

The season opens tonight, November 29, with the return of Art of Élan's CROSSFIRE Series at The Glashaus. This event will feature selections from Daniel Wohl's Corps Exquis, released on New Amsterdam in 2013, and the world premiere of AJ Nilles' "Beat Suite no. 2."

Throughout the season, NOW Ensemble will be engaging with the San Diego community in a number of ways, including a free concert at The San Diego Museum of Art (May 9, 2017) and outreach activities in National City with students from Art of Élan's annual collaboration with A Reason to Survive (ARTS) called Young Artists in Harmony (spring of 2017). They will also be part of Art of Élan's collaboration with Malashock Dance (June 1-3, 2017, Lyceum Theatre) where they will present the world premiere by NewAm co-founder and co-artistic director Judd Greenstein, written specifically for NOW Ensemble and Malashock Dance. Additionally, NOW Ensemble pianist Michael Mizrahi will be joined by violinist Michi Wiancko on December 14at Villa Musica - San Diego's Community Music Center with music by several composers featured on New Amsterdam, as well as works by Franz Schubert, Philip Glass, Arnold Schoenberg, John Adams, John Cage.
