Arctic Monkeys brought a little something special to their Austin City Limits TV taping recently. The English band, who are currently nominated for two GRAMMY Awards and a BRIT Award for their 6th album Tranquility Base Hotel And Casino, took the legendary TV studio's stage back in October when in town as one of the festival's headliners. Arctic Monkeys brought creative director and video director Ben Chappell along for the taping who used two Ikegami ITC 730a Colour Tube Cameras to create a uniquely vintage look. Ben and his team worked with the ACL director and crew to include the vintage cameras for a look that harks back to the early days of music television. The result can be see this weekend when PBS airs the performance.
The show includes an interview with Arctic Monkey's Alex Turner and Matt Helders by ACL's Terry Lickona. The new episode premieres Saturday, January 19 at 8pm CT/9pm ET. The program airs weekly on PBS stations nationwide (check local listings for times) and full episodes are made available online for a limited time at pbs.org/austincitylimitsimmediately following the initial broadcast.
