The Antique Phonograph Society comes to Southern California for two special events in August that pay tribute to the music of the early 20th Century.

On Thursday, August 6th at 8:00PM at the Steve Allen Theater, The Antique Phonograph Society and Trepany House Presents: An Evening of Rare & Rousing Music of the 1910s, 1920s and 1930s Performed with Zest by Janet Klein & Her Parlor Boys.

Accompanying Miss Klein with her vocal styling will be performers Cornetist Colin Hancock and Clarinetist Dan Levinson. Janet and her boys will perform a program of popular music. They will then re-enact a turn-of-century wax cylinder recording session. Pre-electric hand cranked high technology! The results will then be played back on fancy, modern equipment.

The evening will also include a demonstration of the making of a brown wax recording! Plus a selection of rare animated and musical film clips will be presented by renowned historian Jerry Beck.

The Steve Allen Theater is located at 4773 Hollywood Blvd. Tickets $15 - $20 are available in advance online by going to: http://trepanyhouse.tix.com/Event.aspx?EventCode=751149

And on Saturday August 8th, The Antique Phonograph Society will hold its annual banquet in Buena Park. The evening will include entertainment by Janet Klein along with Colin Hancock on cornet and Randy Woltz at the piano. Other festivities will include a silent, speakers and presentations and dinner. Price is $40.00. The Banquet takes place at the UFCW Auditorium located at 8530 Stanton Avenue in Buena Park. Tickets are available by emailing showandsale@antiquephono.org or calling Dan Reed at 760-242-5748.
