On the heels of playing to rapt audiences at SXSW, Anna Shoemaker has shared new single "Home." The track premiered via Wild Honey Pie who note "The infusion of R&B with the light lilting of acoustic instruments give "Home" a freshly intimate and evasive quality to it. As Shoemaker's voice fills the song with style and swoon-worthy inflections, it becomes more clear that she's an artist to watch." Anna states, "The idea behind the song isn't necessarily a physical place, but a person. It's about being all over the place, feeling lost trying to get a hold of this someone who feels like your home. The song is about more than just a drunk dial. It's not as much about wanting this person as it is about needing them."
Anna wrote the track with Tyler Cordy and Daniel Edinberg and it marks the follow up to her incredible debut EP East Side and the more recent single "East Side Too," a melodic, heartfelt reimagining of the EPs title track.
Shoemaker has just recorded her sophomore EP in Nashville with GRAMMY-nominated producer JT Daly -- more news on that + tour dates coming soon!
More on Anna Shoemaker:
23-year-old Shoemaker creates music that propels her well beyond the realm of singer/songwriter. Drawing elements of indie-pop, alt-rock, R&B, and hip-hop combined with her dreamy, hypnotic vocals, Shoemaker has created a unique hybrid that undoubtedly stands out.
All of her singles and recently released EP were recorded with GRAMMY-nominated producer JT Daly (nominated in 2018 for K.Flay's "Blood In The Cut") in his Nashville studio. Shoemaker signed to 5Towns Records in late 2017 when she was chosen as Steve Madden's Emerging Artist of the Year. Additionally, she was featured in the Steve Madden global fall ad campaign for GenSteve.
It was her stripped down interpretation of a few of her favorite hip-hop tracks that helped catapult Shoemaker's budding career. Recorded in her bedroom and released exclusively on SoundCloud, "No Lie, Bitch Don't Kill My Cocoa Butter Kisses" is a mash-up of Kendrick Lamar's "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe," and Chance The Rapper's "Cocoa Butter Kisses," which has nearly 1 million streams." She has supported alt-pop songstress Bishop Briggs' in New York, and has graced the stages of Firefly Festival, Sofar Sounds, Mercury Lounge, Bowery Electric, The Box, and Communion Music's monthly showcase at Rockwood Music Hall.
