Anderson East's highly anticipated new album, Encore, is now streaming in full exclusively at NPR Music's First Listen series. Listen HERE. Of East and producer Dave Cobb, NPR Music declares, "they've bested themselves with Encore, drawing inspiration from the sophistication of Donny Hathaway's compositions and arrangements, the grandness of Van Morrison's Caledonia Soul Orchestra and the dashing song interpretation of Joe Cocker."
In celebration of the album, East will perform next week on CBS' "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" (January 9) and NBC's "TODAY" show (January 12).
Already receiving widespread acclaim, "All On My Mind" recently reached #1 at Triple Aradio (both BDS and mediabase). Written by Ed Sheeran, Johnny McDaid, Anderson East and Aaron Raitiere, "All On My Mind" is East's first single to reach #1. Watch East perform the song on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"
East will embark on his largest headline tour to date in support of the album, "Encore World Tour 2018." The extensive run will span throughout next year including two sold-out shows at Nashville's 3rd & Lindsley as well as stops at NYC's Bowery Ballroom (sold-out) and Music Hall of Williamsburg, Atlanta's Terminal West, L.A.'s El Rey Theatre, San Francisco's The Fillmore and D.C.'s 9:30 Club. Newly added dates include stops at Charlotte's The Underground, Knoxville's Bijou Theater, Louisville's Headliner's Music Hall and Chicago's Thalia Hall among many others. All tickets are on sale now. See below for complete details.
Encore was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Dave Cobb and recorded at Nashville's historic RCA Studio along with additional production at House of Blues and Farmland Studio. The album features eleven songs, including "All On My Mind," "King For A Day" and "Girlfriend" as well as renditions of songs by Ted Hawkins and Willie Nelson.
The release of Encore culminates a breakout series of years for East following his widely praised debut album, Delilah, which NPR Music called "an eclectic, fully formed debut..." Additional critical praise included The Wall Street Journal who described, "...highlighted by Mr. East's raw and raspy vocals and a backing band that channels the urgent rhythms and gospel-flavored sounds of '60s R&B and Southern soul music," while American Songwriterasserted, "New artist debuts don't come with much more industry buzz than the first release from singer/songwriter Anderson East...For better or worse, that sets expectations higher than those of most new artists. Thankfully, East meets them in 10 tracks and 33 minutes."
In addition to "Ellen" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," East has previously performed on "Late Night with Seth Meyers," "CBS This Morning Saturday" and Daryl Hall's "Live from Daryl's House" and has lent his talents to several notable projects. He's been featured on Dave Cobb's Southern Family compilation, contributed a song to Brandi Carlile's Cover Stories LP and crafted the original song "What Would It Take" for the Fifty Shades Darkersoundtrack.
