Los Angeles artist And That (Scott Cleary) is thrilled to announce his debut EP This - due out tomorrow February 22nd via Nashville arts collective Congrats Records. The 5-song outing was produced by musician Zac Farro (Paramore, HALFNOISE) - who also played drums and bass on the EP - and was recorded by Carlos de la Garza (M83, Cherry Glazerr, Best Coast) at Music Friends studio. You can catch the band's debut live performance on March 21st, opening for HALFNOISE at Teragram Ballroom in Los Angeles.
To coincide with the EP announce, And That is also dropping the video (directed by Zac) for his first single "Somewhere" today - a sun-soaked confession of love for his wife.
"Somewhere" is in essence about finding the sweet spot in a relationship. The balance between a lover and a friend. My wife was making fun of me for never writing a song about her - So I figured I'd start - What came of it was the songs that make up the "This" EP. Overall, I wanted it to feel care-free and uncomplicated - Love and relationships aren't always easy, but when they are it just feels good. This kind of became the mantra for the EP as a whole - Easy, cafe-free, uncomplicated. - Scott
A native New Zealander, Scott first met Zac in the country in 2013 through mutual friends. The duo spent the following years writing and playing music together, nurturing their strong creative connection. Early on, Scott toured in HALFNOISE as a guitarist and even co-produced 2016's Sudden Feeling LP, which received glowing praise from the likes of Stereogum, Billboard, DIY Magazine and more. Fast-forward three years and Scott is multi-faceted artist living in Los Angeles with his wife and new-born baby, releasing music with his best friends - "It all just feels right - reflective of the easy, cafe-free, uncomplicated thing." As for Zac, he's been busier than ever exercising his production chops, most recently collaborating with the buzzworthy Becca Mancari, and is equally as excited to come back full-circle with Scott on This. HALFNOISE gears up for new music this year and has already announced dates through the Spring.
