As a frequently performed composer of classical works, TV, and film scores, as well as the longtime musical assistant of famed composer Philip Glass, classical music has always been a huge part of Alex Weston's life. With the release of his debut EP, Kill the Weathermen he effortlessly combines this his experience in the classical field with his love for pop music and indie rock. Elaborate sequences and intricate orchestrations guide you through the EP, to what Pancakes & Whiskey calls a "magical and musical landscape." Check it out below!

"Build", the album's energetic and complex opener combines lush strings with propulsive polyrhythms, seamlessly flowing into the majestic "The Break," that gives a first taste of Weston's clear voice, soaring above complex arrangements. Weston manages to display his prowess on the piano and his compositional skill on Kill The Weathermen, produced by Fritz Myers (Nico Muhly, Bird Call, Sushi Girl). See the brooding "Hands," with it's colossal interlude halfway through the song, and the almost 13 minute long title track, that at first introduces us to delicate, almost lullaby-esque tunes, developing into the darker second part and an uplifting coda that could be part of a movie's soundtrack.

Weston lives and works in New York City and has had works premiered by the Lyrica Chamber Music Ensemble, the Utah Wind Symphony, the Carnegie Mellon University Philharmonic, MADArt Creative, and other ensembles, receiving awards from ASCAP and the English National Opera. Alex also has collaborated with the "In the Basement Theatre Company" and currently serves as composer contributing music for an upcoming Ken Burns PBS documentary, and "The Affair" on Showtime.
