The Alden in McLean welcomes Andes Manta to its stage for a single, family-friendly performance of lyrical Andean music at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $15 for McLean tax district residents. The Alden is located inside the McLean Community Center, which is located at 1234 Ingleside Avenue.
The musicians of Andes Manta believe that through their music they bring a rare opportunity for cultural understanding between the people of their homeland, South America, and the people of modern North America. Natives of the Ecuadorian Andes, brothers Fernando, Luis, Bolivar and Jorge bring this unique art form to North America in its purest and most authentic form.
The group performs on more than 35 traditional instruments. From the lyrical sound of the quena, or Andean Flute, to the haunting tones of the six-foot long pan-pipes, the music of Andes Manta is an experience that never fails to bring audiences to their feet. "A performance of incredible power and energy ... the crowd would not let them stop ... these guys are magic."-Stephanie Korobov, SUNY New Paltz
