The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced today that treasured musician, storyteller and 12-time JUNO Award nominee Alan Doyle will host and perform at the 2019 JUNO Songwriters' Circle. This year's event will take place on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 12 p.m. ET at London's Centennial Hall and will be broadcast live on CBC Radio One, CBC Music and be available to live stream via CBCMusic.ca/junos.
Proudly dubbed the "Jewel of JUNO Week," the intimate showcase is unlike any other event during the week-long celebration of Canadian music. Presented by SOCAN (The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada) in association with the Canadian Music Publishers Association, JUNO Songwriters' Circle demonstrates the powerful role that songwriting plays. Fans and guests experience rare collaborations between artists and get the inside scoop on the inspiration and process behind their favourite songs.
Best known as lead-singer for Newfoundland's adored Great Big Sea for the past 20 years, the actor, producer and best-selling author recently released his third solo album, A Week at the Warehouse, produced by 2018 JUNO Songwriters' Circle co-host, Bob Rock. Lauded as one of Canada's most beloved musicians, Doyle will bring an unmistakable presence to this year's event.
"As an avid storyteller, it's a true honour to host one of JUNO Week's most authentic moments," said Doyle. "JUNO Songwriters' Circle connects exemplary artists with rising stars, in an intimate and captivating setting that gives the audience an experience they'll never forget. I'm delighted to be able to do what I love, while helping benefit Canadian youth through MusiCounts."
