Hollywoodreporter.com reports that 'American Idol' star Adam Lambert was arrested and jailed in Finland last night. According to the report, Finnish authorities were summoned to a Helsinki gay bar where Lambert and his boyfriend, Finnish reality star Sauli Koskinen were in a heated argument. Lambert was jailed for several hours and he and Koskinen are currently being interrogated over the incident.
Petri Juvonen, who is leading the police investigation into the incident, told the Hollywood Reporter that the two men were arrested at 4:00 am Thursday morning outside a club called DTM (Don't Tell Momma), a well-known gay bar in Helsinki. Juvonen revealed that police are looking into as many as four possible assault charges and that Lambert and Koskinen would be released once the police interrogation is over.
Sources tell the Reporter that the brawl began in a back room of the club. The argument became so heated that the two were asked to leave, yet continued their fight on the street. Lambert's friend, former 'Miss Helsinki' Sofia Ruusila, attempted to break up the dispute and was accidently hit by Lambert in the process.
Over the past week, rumors had surfaced that Lambert was scheduled to be a performer on tonight's finale of Fox's 'The X Factor'. A spokesman for X Factor denied that Lambert was scheduled to appear on the show. As of now, details are not clear as to when LamBert May return to the U.S.
The American Idol star's new single, 'Better Than I Know Myself' was just released this past Tuesday. On Wednesday, he had tweeted from Helsinki that he was thrilled that the song had already reached the number 2 spot on iTunes in the Middle East. Wrote Lambert in Finnish, "Helsinki is a beautiful city full of beautiful people! Thank you!".
