2017 has been a breakout year for multi-hyphenate Adam Davenport, whose debut single "My Return Address Is You," featuring Shanica Knowles, has been on the Billboard Dance Club chart for the past ten weeks, where it peaked at #23. Today, Independent Ear/SRG-ILS/Universal Music Group has released a follow up EP to the summer dance hit, featuring new mixes from Davenport, U.K. based duo Lejon, Amsterdam's Jordan Jay, the Dominican Republic's Seven AM, and up-and-coming electronic producers Rayyan and Mushroomizer.
"The first EP was geared for club play; the second EP is a chill listening experience, with influences of trap, future bass, electro synth and dubstep," says Davenport.
"I grew up with a love for dance music. But dance music is a broad term really that encompasses so many different sub-genres and I must say I'm equally interested in electronic music, which for me goes back all the way to when I first heard my first Brian Eno track. With the remixes, my initial curiosity was to explore how many unique genres the vocals could be successfully translated into. And it led to these new collaborations."
"My Return Address Is You" has been met with praise from critics. including Dancing Astronaut's Andrew Spada and Entertainment Tonight's Liz Calvario who named the song "New Discovery of the Week."
"Hearing from people I don't know that My Return Address Is You has made them relate the lyrics to something personal in their lives or even helped them understand their own experience of love in some way, well I guess that just shows me that as artists we are called to be agents of empathy."
Davenport is currently working on new original material to be released in 2018.
