Austin-based band ANY KIND just released the lead single from their new album on BrooklynVegan. "My Brother" is a jaunty pop song, recalling Elvis Costello and the Beatles, and serves as the first listen to the band's new album, O T H E R, out later this summer on Brendan Benson's Readymade Records.
"'My Brother' is a bouncy song with a direct message," notes lead singer and songwriter Dan Duszynski. "Although the subject is a bit heavy, the contrast in the music makes for an easy delivery - a spoonful of sugar, as they say. Basically, we humans are united in death. f it! Let's dance."
It's this kind of whimsical approach that provides the song with levity and buoyancy. The melody is also so downright infectious, it's near impossible to escape having it stuck firmly in your brain. This theme continues throughout O T H E R, which BrooklynVegan calls "a meticulously-crafted collection of hazy, experimental pop." ANY KIND's new album, O T H E R, is out later this summer via Readymade Records, and features ten songs that build on Duszynski's pop-leaning songwriting, while continuing to expand the soundscape with more experimental takes, like the harrowing "Creep All Night" and the hypnotic, Radiohead-like "Sightseeing."ANY KIND - 2014 Tour Dates
