According to Deadline, singer/songwriter Chris Daughtry, who rose to fame on FOX's AMERICAN IDOL, will play a recurring role and write original music for the network's STUDIO CITY pilot.

Read the original report here.

Written by Krista Vernoff and helmed by Sanaa Hamri, STUDIO CITY is "inspired by Veroff's real-life experience growing up as the daughter of a drug dealer to the stars." It "tells the story of a young singer's (Florence Pugh) path to stardom as she comes of age living with her songwriter father Rob (Eric McCormack) -- who turns out to be a drug dealer to the stars."

Daughtry will play 'Keith Rhodes', described as "a drug-addicted rock star."

Daughtry, who placed fourth on AMERICAN IDOL's fifth season, has also appeared on TV in CSI: NY. His rock band's self-titled album hit No. 1 on the Billboard chart in 2006.
