Fresh from the release of the label's debut album in the form of Getter's I WANT MORE LP, Firepower Records waste no time in returning to continue their mission statement of bringing through fresh, exciting production talent. Jimmy Blythe, otherwise known as AFK, has been grinding away at the dance scene in his hometown of Dallas, TX for years. Fast forward to 2013, after touring in support of Firepower Records, releasing his first EP and playing multiple festivals and shows, AFK is here to release his brand new KILLIONAIRE EP on the label today, February 26.
The four original productions on the KILLIONAIRE EP are a combination of everything he has learned to date on how to leave a dance floor in pieces, splicing together elements of dubstep, trap and drum & bass into the DNA of his music. Solo productions "Pinkman" and "Hear Me Shout" focus their sights directly on club destruction, the former wielding a barrage of flailing bass lines while the latter introduces infectious vocal samples to tap into a lighter mood. He then teams up with fellow Texan and rising talent Spenca on two more tracks, "Go Home" and "Who Wants Some." While the intro to "Go Home" draws on jungle and old skool rave influences to bring a new dimension to its big drum stomp and sprightly bass line, "Who Wants Some" goes straight for the jugular. The package also includes remixes of "On The Floor" featuring Messinian from Melamin and Rekoil who both deliver their own heavyweight takes on the original.Videos
