With Michael Jackson's sudden death in 2009, his fans never got to experience the series of comeback concerts he had scheduled in London that year. It was rumored soon after that the concert's promoters reached out to ABBA to fill in, believing that a reunion of the 1970s disco super group would have their diehard fans around the world in frenzy.
ABBA said no, for as their fans knew then, and know now, there will probably never be a reunion. But what some consider the next best thing, the tribute band ABBA Mania, is coming to the Gallo Center for the Arts at 8 pm on Friday, November 22.
Tickets for the performance range in price from $19 to $59, and can be purchased online at
www.gallocenter.org, by calling (209) 338-2100, or from the Gallo Center ticket office at 1000 I Street in downtown Modesto. Wearing bellbottom jeans and platform shoes to the concert is optional.
ABBA Mania was formed in 1999, and has since performed throughout Europe, Russia and South
America as well as the U.S. Their concerts celebrate the music and style of ABBA in a respectful and enjoyable way, carefully recreating such ABBA hits as "Mamma Mia," "Voulez Vous," "Dancing Queen," "Winner Takes It All," and "Super Trouper."
The ABBA Mania performance at the Gallo Center is sponsored by Sutter Health Central Valley Region.
