A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Turns Back Time in Music Video for Hit Single “Look Back At It” Off #1 Album HOODIE SZN Image

Today, rapper and entrepreneur A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie drops his newest music video off his sophomore studio album, Hoodie SZN, which spent two weeks at number one on the Billboard Top 200 Albums Chart. The music video shows that he is a student of the game and comes after a massive streaming success for the album, racking up over 595 million streams to date.

The video depicts the fantasy of fame, and how we can confuse our long-term priorities with our temporary desires. Representing A Boogie's self-founded label, the video takes place at a high school named "High Bridge", after the label. The opening scene begins with a mother and father watching TV while the father is screaming at his son to stop playing the guitar so loudly. Soon enough, the son is then sucked into the TV and lands in a classroom with A Boogie. The young boy, who is also the famous "flossing" star and nicknamed as 'Backpack Kid' from Katy Perry's "Swish Swish" performance, is shown laughing and joking around with A Boogie and his classmates.

Before being pulled into the TV, the boy's father tells him that playing music is a waste of time and calls it "garbage"; A Boogie's lyrics are a testament to the hard work that is required to be an artist and to make it in the music industry - the opposite of the harsh words from the young boy's father. A Boogie claims "Yeah they after me/ I got rags on me/ Got the 'stash on me", and "Hoodie on low but I stay focused" narrating the scenes of A Boogie and his friends messing around in the hallways and in class. Starting when he was young, A Boogie has always been a student to his talents, a true self-starter. The school setting is used as a metaphor to portray the lessons and growth that we experience in our lives, beginning first with school and ending with our final takeaway - which manifests through music for a Boogie.

symbolizing distraction and pleasure, A Boogie fawns over a cheerleader and raps about getting chills just looking at her body. As a testament to his hard work, A Boogie highlights all the facets involved in the world of entertainment - from working to romance and partying.

"I was inspired to shoot "Look back at it" in a high school because I'm like a voice of the youth," said A Boogie. "When the youth sees me in a classroom I want them to be inspired to accomplish their dreams. I was just like them in a classroom at one point. It all starts in a classroom."

About A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie:

The Bronx-bred rapper Artist Dubose, better known as A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, first hit the rap scene with the breakout hit "Still Think About You" which was featured on his 2016 debut mixtape,ARTIST. The mixtape also introduced fans to "My s" which went on to become RIAA certified platinum and was also listed as one of "The Best Songs of 2016" on Apple Music. A Boogie quickly proved himself to be one of the game's newest heavyweights after XXL dubbed him as "one of the hottest and newest up-and-comers in hip-hop" and included him in the 2017 Freshman Class.

The young star also went on to release the 3x platinum "Drowning feat Kodak Black" along with the platinum certified singles "Jungle" and "Timeless." During the fall of 2017, A Boogie went on to release his highly anticipated, now gold certified, debut album, THE BIGGER ARTIST, which quickly sprung into the Top 5 on Billboard's Top 200. He also became the top emerging acting in the U.S. as he simultaneously sprung to #1 on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart. It is easy to see why The New York Times named A Boogie "the most promising young rapper the city has produced in some time." With a 2018 BET Award Nomination for "Best New Artist" and the release of his sophomore album, HOODIE SZN which made its debut at #2 before becoming the #1 album on the Billboard 200, there's no doubt A Boogie will continue to make waves and redefine the sound of New York rap.
