The 3 Tenors, Bill Brooks, Edd Clark, and Stephen Tharp are back, and expanding the boundaries of the American Songbook. For one night only, the tenors are celebrating the songs of American composers from Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil to Ned Rorem, from Christine Lavin to Samuel Barber and Ernest Gold, current composers, Paul Stephan and David Cisco, and throwing in just a little dash of Charles Ives.
With music director Paul Stephan, the tenors are taking songs from these great American composers and putting them together in a fun, exciting evening with all proceeds going to The Tersia Jonck Music Education Fund. The Fund supports music education for children ages 6 to 13 at Excelsior Primary School in South Africa.
The concert is Tuesday, July 30st at 7:00 p.m., at the National Opera Center Recital Hall, 330 7th Ave. There will be a suggested donation of $15.
3 TENORS...IN SEARCH OF AN ACT - In Concert Is a show packed with the same wicked, smart, and uplifting material that made their Bistro Award winning show 3 Tenors...in Search of an Act, so successful. After seeing the first show, David Finkle wrote "...how much room is there for three new tenors who've decided to goose their disparate careers by banding together? You'd better make room...they could be booked immediately into the best rooms in the country"
In addition to 3 Tenors...In Search of an Act - In Concert, the Bill, Steve, and Edd will return with 3 Tenors...In Search of an Act - The Christmas Show December 13th and 15th at Don't Tell Mama's.
The original concept was the brain-child of Edd Clark and Paul Stephan, who asked their long-time friends, Bill Brooks and Steven Tharp to do a show spoofing the original "3 Tenors." The show took the NY cabaret scene by storm. With 30 successful performances, a Bistro Award, and nominations for both the New York Night Life and MAC Awards, 3 Tenors...in Search of an Act proved a Broadway tenor (Bill Brooks), a legit tenor (Edd Clark), and an opera tenor (Steven Tharp), can share the same stage, and make it work brilliantly
