The Millersville Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Lab Band will present the 2nd Annual "Trick or Treat with a Beat!" at the Winter Center on Friday, October 30, 7:30 p.m., for a night of betwithing blues, supernatural swing, and Halloween-howling jazz! Costume attire is encouraged and there will be prizes for the best costumes! The Winter Center is located at 60 W. Cottage Avenue, Millersville.

The MU Jazz Ensemble is comprised of 20 musicians based on a "big band" instrumentation. They perform both on and off-campus each semester featuring a repertoire that includes classic swing, jazz standards, and contemporary fusion styles. Guest artists, who appear regularly with the band, have included Byron Stripling, Ernie Watts, John Fedchock, Larry McWilliams, Dean Sorenson, Pete McGuinness, Chris Vadala, Sharrie Maricle, and many others. Maintaining an active performance schedule, the MUJE has appeared on concerts sponsored by the Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz, the Villanova University Jazz Festival, and the Les Brown Jazz Festival. The Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Sextet were chosen to perform at the Crescent City Jazz Festival in New Orleans in March 2012 and will open for the Glenn Miller Orchestra at Truman High School in Levittown on November 30th.

The MU Jazz Lab Band is an ensemble of flexible instrumentation (woodwinds, brasses, strings, piano, bass, drums, guitar) that accommodates a wide range of student experience levels. This band was established to allow less experienced musicians to develop reading and interpretation skills and to give advanced players considerable opportunity to further develop their improvisational abilities.

Tickets are $10 general admission, and can be purchased online by visiting ArtsMU.com or by calling 717-871-7600.
