2019 Record Store Day Ambassadors Announced Image

For an incredible 12th time, Record Store Day will be once again celebrated on the same date around the world. Set for Saturday 13 April more than 180 indie music stores around Australia will throw open their doors to live music, DJs spinning the vinyl, treasure hunts, parties, barbecues, coffee carts, face painting and, of course, the legendary vinyl crate digging.

Pro-Ject Audio Systems will again be on board for the 5th year as this special day for the Record Stores sponsor

Once again the record companies are planning a series of limited edition vinyl releases for the collectors. Many stores are importing pre-loved vinyl specially for the day, as well as raiding their vaults for vinyl, CD and memorabilia treasures. Even the odd cassette or two will appear. The vinyl resurgence continues alongside resilient sales for CDs.

The 12th annual worldwide party, that celebrates the culture of the indie record store, reiterates the importance of the traditional music outlet as one of the major avenues for the public to still discover the many genres of music releases each year. Stores around the world will open their doors to celebrate with music lovers, the musicians who make the music they love, and the people who sell it.

Record Store Day has grown exponentially and is now celebrated by millions of people, in thousands of independent record stores, worldwide. Follow Record Store Day at:

DAVE FAULKNER

Dave founded The Hoodoo Gurus, the band with which he has been most closely identified and still performs with to this day, as lead singer, rhythm guitarist and principal songwriter. Apart from the Gurus, Dave has written and recorded albums with 'Antenna' and 'The Persian Rugs' as well as composed the soundtrack for two feature films. He has also been a judge for the Australian Music Prize since its inception fourteen years ago, serving as its chairperson for the past seven years. For the past five years Dave has been chief music critic for The Saturday Paper. He is passionate about music in general and song-writing in particular.

HOCKEY DAD - https://farmerandtheowl.com/blogs/label/hockey-dad

Best mates first, band mates second - the heart of Hockey Dad has always existed in the friendship between duo Zach Stephenson and Billy Fleming, who first met in early childhood, growing up two doors apart in the unassuming, laid back coastal town of Windang, NSW. The foundations for the band began in early 2013, where an underage Fleming and Stephenson would sneak into their local live music haunt to catch their favourite bands. Eventually they were granted regular slots playing to an ever-growing crew of enthusiastic friends turned fans, and quickly picking up the attention of local Wollongong indie label Farmer & The Owl. In 2014 they released their Dreamin' EP and were finalists in the triple j unearthed high competition.

Now, the duo are on the verge of releasing their highly-anticipated second album Blend Inn, the follow up to 2016's debut Boronia. Where Boronia celebrated the long days of summers past, of mates, the ocean and the sublime naivety of youth, Blend Inn is Fleming and Stephenson coming to us with more perspective following a year of relentless touring which took them far from the streets and waves of their hometown.
