Bonobo releases new video for standout album track, 'Break Apart' featuring Rhye, directed by Spencer Creigh. Bonobo's most recent album "Migration" proved itself a touchstone for both Bonobo's career and for an audience looking for substance and emotion from the music they listen to, securing the producer a spot at #5 on the UK album charts, #1 on the iTunes Electronic Album charts in over 50 territories, and receiving acclaim from the likes of the Guardian, Pitchfork and i-D magazine. Bonobo will play his only live headline gigs of the year when he returns for two triumphant homecoming shows at Alexandra Palace in London in May & June 2018.

The video is centred around three young couples, in three separate 24-hour periods as they spend an entire day together in one motel room with no phones, televisions, or other distractions. Each comes with their own unique histories, proclivities, and dynamics. We watch their intimate looks, conversations, and touches - juxtaposing their subjective passions with the indifferent transient space of a single motel room. WATCH NOW: https://bonobo.lnk.to/ba-vid

"I wanted to create the sensation that you, as the viewer, are somehow participating in voyeurism by watching the video" explains Creigh. "There's this great dichotomy that you experience watching the video where you're simultaneously moved by watching these very authentic moments of true feeling and then this uneasy feeling that you're invading their privacy."

Having produced the footage on no budget, the collaboration only came about when Creigh decided to reach out to Bonobo and his team direct. "Spencer approached me last month with this touching video for 'Break Apart'" explains Bonobo - who loved it from the very first watch and decided to use it as an official release - "I'm happy to be able to share this with everyone."

A fan of Bonobo music and videos for many years, Creigh was surprised and humbled at the news. Explaining his decision to pursue the musician, Creigh says "'Break Apart' is a track that's sort of painful and pleasurable at the same time, I felt like the video shared some of that almost masochistic quality to it, and the track just added so much life and weight to the video's nuances"

Spencer Creigh is an L.A. based director working primarily in music videos and commercials. Coming from a background in documentary filmmaking, Spencer's work consistently pushes conventions, exploring authentic and nuanced stories from unique conceptual perspectives, his work this year has won him a silver Clio for best directing along with two Cannes Lions. He is signed in the U.S. to Whitelist.
