According to the Examiner.com, Walt Disney World executives are planning to shut down five resort-wide attractions including the 'Maelstrom' ride in Epcot's Norway Pavilion. The site reports that the ride, now showing its age, will be replaced with a FROZEN-themed attraction to celebrate the Oscar winning animated film. It was also recently announced by Disney CEO Bob Iger, that a stage version of the film may soon be headed to Broadway.

Also rumored to soon be closed at Walt Disney World are Hollywood Studios' "Great Movie Ride", The Fountains at the Polynesian Resort, and Epcot attractions "Soarin'" (to be replaced by a more globally-themed 'Soarin' ride) and Michael Jackson's "Captain EO."

In other Disney World news, the new 'Seven Dwarfs Mine Train' attraction is set to open later this month.

About Disney's Frozen:

Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind "Tangled" and "Wreck-It Ralph," presents "Frozen," a stunning big-screen comedyadventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey-teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven-to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter.

Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.
