You're invited to join Schuler's executive chef Renee Hogge for an educational and tasty program on Tuesday, August 25 from 7-8:15pm at the Marshall District Library, 124 West Green Street.

During "An Evening with the Chef," Hogge will share her insights on shopping the local markets and how to best prepare fresh late summer menu items. The program will offer a brief history of the historic Schuler's Restaurant & Pub, its notable visitors and famous recipes. A cooking demonstration and mouth-watering samples will also be offered during this free program. Space is limited and reservations are required by calling 269-781-7821, ext. 10.

Chef Hogge joined the Schuler's team earlier this year as its first female executive chef. Over the past several months, she began to blend her fresh and innovative cuisine, while honoring the traditions of this well-established restaurant.

A self-taught chef with almost 30 years of culinary experience in both restaurants and country clubs, Hogge began her career as many other chefs did-in a pizza shop and by cooking at restaurants during and after high school. Hogge expanded her career by working in retail store management and training for Williams-Sonoma, the kitchen cookware store.

Eventually, the lure of the kitchen called her back and Hogge became the first Chef de Cuisine, and then Executive Chef, at Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor. She worked there for 11 years before coming to Schuler's.

Founded in 1909, the iconic Schuler's Restaurant & Pub epitomizes hospitality excellence as a family owned and operated business. Located in downtown historic Marshall, Schuler's is recognized as world-class Michigan destination focused on offering guests quality food and excellent service, in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
