San Francisco -- Art has many forms. There is permanent art that hangs in galleries and is gazed upon by many. But there is also the art that is created in the kitchen. Culinary art may not last centuries, but it none the less requires an artist to create and admirers to heap on the praise.

With this in mind, The Mexican Museum will open "La Cocina" an exhibition made up of some of the 2,500 artifacts/items from the Rosa and Miguel Covarrubias permanent collection. The exhibit will display Rosa Covarrubias' personal ceramics and cooking utensils (please see attached visual). These were part of the items gifted to the museum.

In conjunction with the exhibit, which runs May 16, 2014 through March 15, 2015, the Museum will host a series of cooking demonstrations that correspond to the items on display as well as their origins.

The Mexican Museum is open Wednesday - Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., located at Fort Mason Center, Building D, Marina Boulevard and Buchanan Street, in San Francisco. FREE Admission. The Museum offers a wide variety of programs, including Family Sundays, exhibitions, special events, lectures and public programming throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. For more information, visit: www.mexicanmuseum.org or call (415) 202-9700.
