This important news bulletin is brought to you by the letter B. Bacon, beer, booths and other letter B-centric oddities and attractions will once again be able to call Dad's Garage Theatre home. Atlanta's outrageously savory and oft-salacious annual event, BaconFest, is set to return in 2016, but to a brand new location-the 20-year-old theatre company's new home at 569 Ezzard Street, just off of Edgewood Avenue in the Old Fourth Ward. Sponsored by MailChimp, the 16th annual event takes place Saturday, March 26, 2016. This will be the first time Dad's has hosted BaconFest since the great wrecking ball incident of 2013 (details below).
Tickets are on sale now. Last year's BaconFest sold out within an hour of opening the gates, and this year Dad's Garage expects all tickets to be sold before the day of the event. Buy your tickets early to make sure you don't miss out! Three ticket levels will be available: Portioned Porking (limited games, bacon, and beer), Bottomless Bacon (all you can play, eat, and drink), and Whole Hog (VIP experience with Fast-Pass privileges). Patrons can upgrade their tickets day-of the event as well.
Founded in 1992, the kitschy festival has become a fixture in the Atlanta community by combining troughs upon troughs of cold beer and sizzlin' bacon with live performances by favorite local bands; hilarious carnival games manned by the best improvisers in the city; and unforgettable entertainment like a hobo wine tasting, naughty face painting, drunken spelling bee, a scavenger hunt, and more. Selling out every year, all proceeds benefit Dad's Garage Theatre Company, a nonprofit theatre group that engages, cultivates and inspires artists and audiences alike by producing innovative, scripted and improvised works that are recognized locally, nationally and internationally for being undeniably awesome.
