Review: UMA TEMAKERIA Now at Gotham West in Hells Kitchen

Great news for sushi lovers. Uma Temakeria, the popular grab-and go-sushi restaurant in Chelsea, now has a second location at Gotham West in the Hells Kitchen neighborhood. The market, which has been in the neighborhood for two years, is a popular venue and Uma Temakeria is an ideal addition. They are making guests welcome with an 11-seat marble sushi bar, comfortable communal seating and take-out options.

Uma Temakeria is the brainchild of renowned Chef, Chris Jaeckle. The eatery specializes in made-to-order sushi that includes Temaki hand rolls, Sushi Burritos and Chirashi Bowls filled with raw fish and seasonal vegetables. Guests can order from signature menu items or create their own with choices of fresh vegetables, white or brown rice, protein and house-made sauces like their Avocado Lime and Tobanjan Mayo. There's really no end to the variations that you can savor and you'll love the presentation.

We recently enjoyed two of their Temaki hand rolls in their neat cone shape, one with seasonal shrimp, one with yellow fin tuna. We made choices to customize them to our exact liking. There's more than sushi on the menu. We suggest you enjoy their Market Sides that include their Edamame Hummus, Miso Soup and Spicy Cucumber.

And Uma Temakeria has just introduced Chef Jaeckle's latest creation, 'The Chef's Selection Kale Bowl" that includes fresh kale, tuna and slices of apples, carrots, cucumbers and bell peppers, all tossed with Sesame Ponzu dressing. Customers can also custom create their own unique Kale Bowls with a wide selection of protein and topping options.

Pair your meal with a fine selection of beverages that include warm sake cider, sake cocktails, beer, iced ginger green tea and organic lemonade.
