This May, local social enterprise Salud de Paloma Extra Virgin Olive Oil, in partnership with the Village of Volente, will be hosting the 4th Annual Volente Olive Fest to celebrate all things olive.
The event will take place on May 14th from 2:30-8:30pm at the Volente Beach Waterpark at 16107 FM 2769 Unit A, Volente, TX 78641.
Volente Olive Fest attendees will be able to taste olive oils and balsamic vinegars, olive tapenades and dipping spices, as well as a special olive oil ice cream made by event sponsor Travaasa. The Go Texan event will also feature chef demos, children's entertainment, samples of Texas shrimp and local wine, and live performances from local Austin musicians Treble Soul, Volente Beach Boys and Aegean. Over 30 local vendors will be present at the event.
The Volente Olive Fest, which began as a way to celebrate the olive growing industry and its impact in Texas, celebrates all things olive and aims to bring awareness to local entrepreneurs as well as the diversity of local and healthy food options.
"We began Salud de Paloma Extra Virgin Olive Oil to provide a product that could not only encourage the olive industry in Texas, but also to provide a delicious, high quality product to promote healthy eating among populations at risk of developing diabetes and other related diseases," says Rosa Rios Valdez, CEO of BCL of Texas, one of the sponsors of Volente Olive Fest. "We believe that everyone deserves access to healthy foods and the Volente Olive Fest began out of a desire to bring these products to a wider audience, while promoting local entrepreneurs at the same time."
