(11/22/2013) - The Department of Theater & Dance at UCSB continues its 2013-2014 season of drama and dance with the Fall Dance Concert – Anticipate, under the direction of UCSB Theater & Dance Lecturer Christina McCarthy. (11/12/2013) - Broadway's most daring, curious, and talented artists gathered at Cielo for the Fall 2013 BC Beat on Monday, November 11th, the showcase and dance party with its own rules for sharing work and connecting artists. The evening's choreographers featured: Charlie Sutton, Cindy Salgado, Caleb Teicher, Kyle Mullins, Tricia Brouk, Josh Assor, Rickey Tripp, and Jennifer Jancuska, as well as performers Daniel Watts, Jennifer Locke, Ephraim Sykes, Aurelia Michael, Voltaire Wade-Greene, Masi Yahya James, Amber Jackson, Elizabeth Burke, Macy Sullivan, Ryan VanDenBoom, Matthew Steffens, Heather Hamilton, Shiloh Goodin, Liz Piccoli, Paul Romero, Borris York, Matty Oaks and Rachel Guest. (11/8/2013) - Segerstrom Center's 2013 - 2014 International Dance Season opened with the world premiere of Diana Vishneva: On the Edge, which introduced two new works commissioned by the Center and Ardani Artists for the internationally renowned and award-winning star of the Mariinsky Ballet and American Ballet Theatre. On the Edge is in two acts, and begins with Jean-Christophe Maillot's intriguing piece titled Switch, followed by Carolyn Carlson's profound solo work, Woman in a Room. After this world premiere engagement in Segerstrom Hall, On the Edge will make its European premiere in December at both the National Centre for Contemporary Choreography in Roubaix, France and in Monte-Carlo's Salle Garnier as part of the Les Ballet des Monte-Carlo dance season. There will also be performances in 2014 at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow in March and at Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg in April. Scroll down for photos from the performances!

(10/29/2013) - Alternating principal dancers highlight Russian ballet prowess and beauty on Moscow Ballet North American Eastern Tour of the Great Russian Nutcracker and two performances of Swan Lake. Returning principals Ekaterina Bortiakova and Akshol Mussakhanov perform lead roles with precision, high energy and charm. Ekaterina Bortiakova was described as “Epitome of a classical ballerina…to say that I was impressed would be an extreme understatement. Her performance was flawless,” by Alt Daily, Virginia Beach VA. Honored Artist of Ukraine, Viktor Shcherbakov returns from his 2013 Moscow Ballet premiere with partner Ekaterina Tikhonova in her first appearance as principal Masha. In addition the company of 40 dancers perform Olympic-worthy leaps in the holiday performance for families with magical toys, falling snow and a growing Christmas tree. (10/14/2013) - On October 12th, noted arranger and producer, Fred Barton, whose work is heard regularly in concert halls around the country, celebrated composer Richard Rodgers on the Schimmel stage. Fred Barton, his 12-piece orchestra and star-studded cast of performers are back to celebrate the legendary Richard Rodgers! The extraordinary icon's career spanned six decades, during which he composed 40 Broadway musicals. Fred's tribute to the versatility of Richard Rodgers will prove a revelation to those familiar with his biggest hits: Oklahoma!, South Pacific, Carousel, and The Sound of Music. You'll hear Richard Rodgers from his razz-ma-tazz roots to his later masterworks, created with a number of star lyricists. (9/20/2013) - DanceWorks, Toronto's longest-running contemporary dance series now in its 37th season, launches its 2013-14 Mainstage Series presenting with a trace from firstthingsfirst productions (ftfp), a mixed program of two solos and a duet by acclaimed choreographers Peggy Baker, Valerie Calamand Melanie Demers. Performed by ftfp's Co-Artistic Directors Kate Holden and Kate Franklin, along with Marc Boivin, with a trace is now playing through tomorrow, September 21 at Harbourfront Centre's Enwave Theatre. (9/19/2013) - Roberto Bolle and Friends was a special evening of dance featuring international Ballet Stars. Roberto Bolle, principal dancer of the American Ballet Theatre and Ètoile of La Scala in Milan acted as both artistic director and star as he danced alongside the world's top dancers performing pas de deux and solos from both classic and modern ballets. (8/8/2013) - Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and Artistic Director Glenn Edgerton announce three artists joining the organization's 18-member performing company: Emilie Leriche, Andrew Murdock and Bryna Pascoe. “Each is highly accomplished in both classical and contemporary dance,” says Edgerton, “and uniquely suited for Hubbard Street's active repertoire of works by major international choreographers.” All are scheduled to perform during the company's Fall Series, opening Season 36 with new works by Robyn Mineko Williams and Resident Choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo, plus repertoire by Mats Ek and Ohad Naharin, October 10–13, 2013 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance.
