(12/29/2015) - Following their recent sold-out run featuring the U.S. premiere of the Peking Opera star Zhang Huoding, the China Arts and Entertainment Group (CAEG) returns to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center with Dragon Boat Racing, a production of the Guangdong Song & Dance Ensemble that blends traditional Cantonese music and history with state-of-the-art theatrical artistry, from January 7-10, 2016. Dragon Boat Racing is written by Tang Dong with music by Du Ming, and is directed and choreographed by Zhou Liya and Han Zhen.

(12/22/2015) - American Dance Machine for the 21st Century (ADM21) returns to New York City's Joyce Theater (175 Eighth Avenue), playing through Sunday, January 3rd. Nikki Feirt Atkins is Founder and Producing Artistic Director of ADM21. Directed by Tony Award winner Wayne Cilento (Wicked, Sweet Charity revival, Aida, The Who's Tommy), this year's program includes theatre dances from 'Broadway and Beyond' with live music provided by musical director Eugene Gwozdz. This return to The Joyce follows last year's sold out performances and promises once again, to rekindle old memories for theater dance enthusiasts and spark the imagination of audiences not yet familiar with these masterpieces. (12/18/2015) - Boston Ballet Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen welcomes Jeffrey Cirio, former Boston Ballet Principal Dancer, back to the Boston Opera House Stage for select performances of The Nutcracker. Cirio will join the cast of Company dancers for performances on December 24 at 3 pm, December 26 at 7:30 pm, December 27 at 5:30 pm, December 29 at 7:30 pm, and December 30 at 1 pm, as well as a special New Year's Eve appearance on December 31 at 7:30 pm. (12/8/2015) - Dancers Over 40's last event of 2015, the 7th Annual Legacy Awards presentation, was its most joyous. This holiday celebration and awards event was held last night, December 7th, at LIPS Restaurant, 227 East 56th Street. This year's event was hosted by Richard Skipper, with live entertainment by cabaret legend Barbara Minkus and Dames at Sea star Danny Gardner along with other surprise guests. Scroll down for photos!
(12/7/2015) - On Friday, December 4th, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater unveiled Robert Battle's Awakening, his first world premiere since becoming Artistic Director. Grammy-award winning singer Lauryn Hill was in attendance for the debut of the powerful work in which a dozen Ailey dancers lead the audience on a cathartic journey of dissonance and harmony, chaos and resolution. (12/3/2015) - Last night, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's holiday season at New York City Center kicked off with an Opening Night Gala Benefit. The one-night-only benefit performance and party honored BNY Mellon for its major support of the Ailey Organization since 2007, and Agnes & Gerald Hassell accepted on the institution's behalf. Film star Chadwick Boseman and actress and Grammy-Award winning artist Brandy served as Honorary Chairs, and the event's co-chairs were Simin Allison, Kathryn & Kenneth Chenault, Debra L. Lee, Doris & Gilbert Meister, Daria L. & Eric J. Wallach and Joan & Sandy Weill. $2.5 million was raised in support of the creation of new works, scholarships to The Ailey School, and Ailey's extensive educational programs for young people.

(11/12/2015) - THE RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR and City Bakery, two New York institutions, are teaming up this holiday season. City Bakery will be serving Rockettes High Kicking Hot Chocolate, a first-ever custom creation in honor of the Rockettes and the 2015 Christmas Spectacular. This version of City Bakery's famous hot chocolate features dark chocolate and peppermint with a homemade marshmallow threaded by a peppermint stick. This concoction will be available throughout the RADIO CITY CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR season, from November 13, 2015 - January 3, 2016. (11/6/2015) - The launch of MY STORY, MY DANCE: Robert Battle's Journey to Alvin Ailey, the moving children's picture book from Simon & Schuster, was celebrated at The Ailey Studios on October 29th through reading, dancing and discussion. Artistic Director Robert Battle was joined by author and illustrator couple Lesa Cline-Ransomeand James E. Ransome, who spoke about their personal connection to Ailey and their special roles in creating this heart-warming picture book biography. Mr. Battle recounted how seeing Revelations for the first time as a boy in Miami set him on a path to achieve his goals. "Having experienced first-hand the transformative power of the Ailey legacy, I'm honored by the creation of this book based upon my life," stated Battle, "It's so meaningful to know that this moving story will inspire the next generation of students to dream big and reach high." Students from The Ailey School listened intently when Mr. Battle read from the book and beamed as they brought to life an excerpt from Alvin Ailey's masterpiece. The students asked questions and soaked up Mr. Battle's wise and witty advice to stay focused, keep dreaming and dancing diligently, and to remember that if a boy with leg braces can grow up to be a dancer and choreographer, then they can accomplish anything. (11/4/2015) - Transfigured Night is a new work from award-winning choreographer Kim Brandstrup. This large scale ensemble work, loosely based on Richard Dehmel's poem and driven by Arnold Schoenberg's late romantic masterpiece, focuses on a pair of lovers meeting at moonlight where dark secrets threaten the foundations of their relationship. Four dancers perform intimate duets accompanied by Schoenberg's lyrical and emotive score, whilst the remaining dancers form a chorus that reflects the emotional landscape of the piece.
(10/29/2015) - Hussein Chalayan is an internationally renowned fashion designer and artist whose collections are known for innovative design, bold use of technology and elegant minimalism. He was named British Designer of the Year in 1999 and 2000 and has designed costumes for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's Faun, Michael Clark's current/SEE and Sasha Waltz & Guests' Passion with Pascal Dusapin. In his practice as a visual artist his work is regularly shown in major galleries including Musée Des Arts Décoratifs at the Louvre, London Design Museum and National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo.

(9/11/2015) - In collaboration with John Giffin (OSU Emeritus, Department of Dance) and Jeanine Thompson (OSU Professor, Department of Theatre), who will present in the first act, 'The Dream Dancer ...And Other Hysterics', Columbus Moving Company will premiere a collection of works titled 'Ghost Light' in the second act. 'The Dream Dancer..' is centered around a hypnotist and his willing subject, while 'Ghost Light' enters the metaphysical realm of the subconscious through dance and theatre. There will be an immersive element inspired by the cult performance art project 'Sleep No More', which welcomes the audience to step back in time to the formative years of The Garden Theater.
