knees and toes/NYs and TOs Edition 2014, presented by TOES for dance in collaboration with presenting sponsor mindyourmind*, will showcase a mixed program of contemporary dance by established and new generation choreographers from around the world, under the direction of David Norsworthy and Kristen Carcone. TOES for dance kickstarted the season on October 4th with, for the second year in a row, a sold out showing in New York City. The Ontario Touring Production begins November 8th and runs until November 16th with shows in Mississauga, Waterloo, Vaughan and Toronto, and features dance artists from New York City and Toronto.

knees and toes/NYs and TOs Edition 2014 presents excerpts of internationally awarded and acclaimed works, including Bryan Arias' Without Notice, first place recipient and Audience Choice Award winner at the Sixth Copenhagen International Choreography Competition and Camille A Brown's Mr. TOL E. RAncE, recipient of a 2014 NY Bessie Award for Outstanding Production. In addition, the production's excerpt Primavera: Excerpt from Dances for Isadora, will be the first time that José Limón's choreography will be presented in Toronto by a Toronto-based professional dance company.

knees and toes/NYs and TOs Edition 2014 aims to make contemporary dance accessible to new audiences by striking a unique balance of innovation and entertainment. The performances will be intertwined with spoken interludes providing the audiences with important contextual information, and will be followed with a Q&A session. Edition 2014's all-star roster of choreographers and dance artists includes Robert Glumbek, Linda Garneau, Kelly Shaw, David Norsworthy, Kristen Carcone, Ryan Lee, Kate Holden, Belinda McGuire, Kalene Jeans (Apprentice), JT Papandreos (Apprentice), José Limón*, Bryan Arias, Liony Garcia, Robbie Moore, Jason Parsons, Waldean Nelson, Camille A. Brown, Lea Ved, Bynh Ho, Jonathan Campbell and Austin Diaz. This year will also feature a guest performance by MADboots dance co. (New York City) and choreography by Gadfly (Toronto).

TOES for dance is committed to engaging youth through the arts and creating an accessible platform for the public to learn, participate in and enjoy contemporary dance. This year's Touring Production will visit schools and local theatres across Ontario for student matinees and public evening performances. In-studio workshops will be held for dance studios and schools upon request. Leading up to the Touring Production, the company will be conducting a series of Community Engagement Seminars open to the public, artists and non-artists alike. Running from November 3-5 at the Citadel (Toronto), each seminar will include a presentation, a series of interactive activities and a Q&A session. Excerpts of knees and toes/NYs and TOs Edition 2014 will be performed as demonstration and discussion material. Follow the link for further information: http://toescommunity.bpt.me.

Created by co-Artistic Directors David Norsworthy and Kristen Carcone in 2012, TOES for dance (Toronto Outreach & Exchange Strategy), is an initiative designed to promote contemporary dance in Ontario; locally through outreach workshops and performances and internationally through collaborative artistic exchange. To date, TOES for dance has produced two touring productions that have engaged over ten collaborators from both Toronto and New York alike, which have reached over 1800 audience members. TOES for dance runs an annual choreographic summer residency youth program titled IGNITE, and has initiated partnerships with Dancemakers and the Centre for Creation (Toronto) and Flato Markham Theatre (Markham). The company has received funding from the Canadian Contemporary Dance Theatre (Toronto), and is a recipient of The Juilliard School's Jonathan Madrigano Entrepreneurship Grant (NYC) and Inception to Exhibition's Space Grant (NYC). In November 2015, following the fall Touring Production, the company will produce it's first annual dance festival featuring MADboots dance co. in a full-length evening work.
