Liz Gerring's HORIZON makes its world premiere at Peak Performances, this weekend, December 10-13, 2015.
"HORIZON is a new work for seven dancers centered around the idea of density. In this piece I endeavored to add as much as possible to the space in terms of dancers and movement. With multiple phrases occurring simultaneously the dance takes the form for a constantly shifting universe full of activity." -- Liz Gerring
HORIZON is Liz Gerring's second co-production with Peak Performances, which presented her acclaimed work, glacier, in 2013. Gerring is joined by her glacier collaborators, composer Michael Schumacher and designer Robert Wierzel. In HORIZON, Schumacher's composition is intricately interwoven with Gerring's choreography to create a stirring, sinuous array of rhythms using pre-recorded and live instruments which are played by Bill Solomon. HORIZON happens on a set designed and lit by Robert Wierzel, and in his hands this HORIZON becomes an entity with a life of its own. The Gerring dancers, in costumes by Liz Prince, include Brandon Collwes, Jake Szczypek and Claire Westby, all featured in glacier, as well as new company members Joseph Giordano, Molly Griffin, Pierre Guilbault, Julia Jurgiliewicz.Pictured: Brandon Collwes and Claire Westby.
