In 2013 all of us at VK DANCE are celebrating 20th anniversary of the opening of our dance center. A lot has changed since those early days in 1993. Starting with the name. Initially Kaiser Dance Academy was named to honor Julius "Gyula" Kaiser, the great dance coach and the dance father of the founder of the studio -Victor Kanevsky. At the time it was solely dedicated to training young aspiring dancers for greatness.

Achievements came very quickly. Starting with the 1994 US Championship Titles for Roman Nabatov and Yulia Yeremovich in Amateur Latin, immediately followed by Beata Onefater (yes, "that" legendary World Champion Beata) in Pro-am Latin. In 1995 great stars of the future, trained at "Kaiser", saw their first international success - Eugene Katsevman and Maria Manusova, Zach Kholostoy and Nika Belenko, Maxim Chmerkovsky (yes, the very one) and Nika Beletsky. The following year Roman Nabatov came back to the "Kaiser" (VK) method with a new partner - Karina Smirnoff" onclick="linkClick(this.href)" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karina_Smirnoff">Karina Smirnoff, who went on to become the Grand Diva of Latin and a star of the DWTS on ABC. And so on.

Obviously, with that type of success the studio and the method it championed became renowned world over. Many other stars have been developed over the years. Eugene and Maria have evolved into one of the most original and successful couples in the World, Val Chmerkovsky and Sandra Udis became World Junior Champions, Anja Katsevman pursued a professional career in Salsa, culminating in a title of the World Professional Champion.

At one point it became fashionable to name dance schools "academies", so, as not to be lumped with the rest, our name was changed to "Kaiser DanceSport Club". More successes have followed on the competition scene. One of them was the success of another member of the program - Oksana Zolotarevskaya. She went on to hold the titles of the US Professional Mambo Champion and World vice-champion, as well as those of the Dutch and British Professional Latin Champion.

Many of the stars raised on our principles have moved on to have not only great competitive and performing careers, but teaching and coaching ones as well. Some of them have gone on to open their own studios in pursuit of their own visions... We wish them all the very best and hope that their success will be even greater than ours... That will be a very fitting legacy to the work done by me over the 20 years as well as the training and passion given me by Gyula Kaiser. And that's why I decided to make yet another change. Four years ago there was the latest, and last, name change to VK DANCE. Now our goal is to combine great teaching methods in developing young talent with fun loving social skills necessary for young and old alike, as well as manufacturing and distribution of dance related merchandise (shoes, regulation and practice clothes), and running of different dance events. From parties to concerts, from showcases to NDCA recognized competitions.

A new tradition of having fun and educational/entertaining parties at our Miami center will be kicking off this Wednesday, April 17th and is being sponsored by Mary K cosmetics and will feature for the first time ever a performing group called ZOUK MIA performing their sultry pulsating Brazilian moves. So, come one, come all. You can get more details on our website and Facebook page... There are many events already on tap for the remainder of the year that will culminate in the running of the King's Ball DanceSport Competition in NYC December 7-8.

A new tradition of having fun and educational/entertaining parties at our Miami center (3363 NE 163rd ST, North Miami Beach, FL, 33160) will be kicking off this Wednesday, April 17th

Come and help us celebrate a very significant milestone and fall in love with dance!
