Eryc Taylor Dance will present the US premiere of seven new choreographic works in celebration of the company's 10th Anniversary, Friday, October 21, and Saturday, October 22nd at Martha Graham Center for Contemporary Dance, 55 Bethune Street (Greenwich Village) in New York City. Each dance piece will feature an independent narrative, choreographed by Mr. Taylor as well as by company members.
Eryc Taylor dancers Nicole Baker, Graham Cole, Chris Bell, and Jacob Kruty will participate in the two-evening program. All dance works will be performed consecutively. *Program below.
Eryc Taylor Dance was founded in 2006 with a mission to advance appreciation of dance by creating and presenting original performances, conducting master classes and workshops, and awarding grants to aspiring choreographers. The Company has been home to over twenty New York City dancers since its founding. Every year, ETD provides three emerging New York-based choreographers with $1000 grants to fund the creation of a new piece and subsequently produces and hosts a work-in-progress show featuring each of the new works.
Eryc Taylor has performed works by Merce Cunningham, Mark Dendy, Group Motion, Paul Taylor, Milton Meyers, Sean Curran and Gus Solomons jr. and has collaborated with artists such as Frieda Abtan, Todd Yeager, Laura Peterson, Jason Levine, Scooter LaForge, Mark Beard, and Gerald Busby. Taylor's choreography has been presented worldwide and he is known for producing sight specific dance installations. He has produced summer dance festivals in Martha's Vineyard called, "Dance Martha Dance!" His work has also appeared at Lincoln Center Out-of-Doors, Joyce Soho, The Second Avenue Dance Theater, NYU, Dance Theater Workshop, Dance New Amsterdam's APAP festival, Joe's Pub at The Public Theater, NYC, New York Live Arts, and Armando Manzanero Teatro (Merida, Mexico).
ERYC TAYLOR DANCE 10th Anniversary Program:Dances on Wood, a quartet choreographed to an original score by renowned composer Gerald Busby, features Jacob Kruty, Chris Bell, Nicole Baker, and Graham Cole with costumes by Milan DelVecchio.Last First Place,choreographed by Graham Cole, is a solo featuring Graham Cole accompanied by a story by created by Mr. Cole.Grand Duet, choreographed by Eryc Taylor in collaboration with Timothy Patterson and company dancers, is a duet featuring Graham Cole and Nicole Baker.#1 Fan is a solo choreographed by and featuring Chris Bell. The piece also features a story by Chris Bell.Song for Cello & Piano, a quartet work directed by Eryc Taylor to an original composition by friend, author, and composer, Daniel Tobias, features dancers Nicole Baker, Chis Bell, Jacob Kruty, Graham Cole. Original costumes by Scooter LaForge.Love Bucket is a solo featuring Nicole Baker. The work, choreographed by Baker, also includes an audio reading by Ms. Baker.
Into The Light, choreographed by Eryc Taylor in collaboration with his dancers, features Jacob Kruty, Chris Bell, and Graham Cole. Costumes by Dav Burrington.
