L.A. Dance Project was founded in 2012 by renowned choreographer and former principal dancerwith New York City Ballet Benjamin Millepied, along with Composer Nico Muhly, Art Consultant Matthew Humery, Founding Producer Charles Fabius, and Composer Nicholas Brittell.
L.A. Dance Project's mission is to create new work and to revive seminal collaborations from influential makers of dance. In addition to producing full-length evenings in traditional theater venues, the company also creates various modular performances in non-traditional environments. All new works by the company endeavor to be multidisciplinary creations featuring various artists: visual artists, musicians, designers, directors and composers.
In addition to the newly announced U.S. Premiere of Benjamin Millepied's On the Other Side,
L.A. Dance Project'smixed bill program will also feature Harbor Me by choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, the New York Premiere of choreographer and New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Justin Peck's Helix, and a sequence of three duets from the Martha Graham documentary, A Dancer's World.
Performances of L.A. Dance Project will take place from July 26 to July 30 at The Joyce Theater (175 Eighth Avenue at 19th Street) according to the following schedule: Tuesday and Wednesday at 7:30pm; Thursday and Friday at 8pm; Saturday at 2pm & 8pm.
