Choreographer/dancer/vocalist Francesca Harperpresents a series of intimate portraits and fragmented choreography in the premiere of a live installation entitled "The Freedom Series." Upon arrival, audience members leave their shoes at the door and enter into a multimedia motion gallery where members of The Francesca Harper Project will perform multi-genre works choreographed and performed by Francesca Harper, Sidra Bell Dance New York, Tony AwardNominee Desmond Richardson, Tony Award nominee Karine Plaintadit, Nejla Yatkin, Aubrey Lynch and set to original music by Earl Maneein. Highlighting the program is a new piece by Harper that was created for Louis Vuitton Reconstruction 3.0 for New York Fashion Week 2013.
Also on the program are works integrating dance, theater, live music and songs rooted in themes of loss, renewal and transformation. The program features works by Francesca Harper, Sidra Bell Dance New York, Tony Award Nominee Desmond Richardson, Tony Award nominee Karine Plaintadit, Nejla Yatkin, Aubrey Lynch and original music by Earl Maneein.
After participating in the motion gallery, the audience members are invited to show off their own dance moves when the gallery space transforms into a dance party at The Fusion Lounge.
This special evening is inspired by the life of The Ailey School's former Director, Denise Jefferson (1944-2010).
