Co-Artistic Directors David Norsworthy and Kristen Carcone of TOES (The Outreach and Exchange Strategy) FOR DANCE proudly present two innovative contemporary dance productions featuring a Mixed-Program of short works and a Festival of full-length works, both showcasing local and international artists.

The annual Mixed-Program, this year titled entrances and exits: an evening of short contemporary dances and excerpts, has been presented across Ontario since 2012. The evening is curated to make dance accessible to new audiences by striking a balance between innovation and entertainment through a wide spectrum of movement styles.

The Mixed-Program showcases performing artists from across North America, in several short dance works and excerpts, by new and established choreographers. For the audience, it is a tasting menu of dance styles, running between 2-12 minutes each. Contributing artists include Heidi Strauss (TO),Peggy Baker (TO), Kristen Carcone (TO), David Norsworthy (TO), Rosie Herrera (Miami), Apolonia Velasquez & Ofilio Sinbadinho/Gadfly (TO), Ana Maria Lucaciu (NYC), Callahan Connor (VAN), Lea Ved (MTL), Riley Sims/Social Growl Dance (TO), Kate Wallich/The YC (Seattle), Maleek Washington (NYC) and many, many more.

"I am thrilled to be on the roster of choreographers for TOES. The dancers are astoundingly accomplished, and the mix of genres and aesthetics they celebrate on a single program transcends a host of stylistic and generational barriers." Peggy Baker

Intertwined throughout the dance concert, TOES FOR DANCE artists speak directly to the audience about important contextual information in order to heighten their experience as a viewer. These unique 'informances' provide tools for a greater appreciation and understanding of contemporary dance while presenting dance explorations that exhibit extraordinary physical skill and highly refined choreography. On November 6, at the Flato Markham Theatre, dancer, curator and choreographer Michael Trent will present a unique TOES FOR DANCE 'Informance' called "Experiencing Dance Making," free to all ticketholders.

The TOES FOR DANCE 2015 FESTIVAL presents a series of 60-minute dance productions by local and international artists, including New York City-based MADBOTS DANCE and Toronto-based Belinda McGuire Dance Projects. This series is designed to offer audience members the opportunity to immerse themselves in the choreographic world of a single artistic voice. More to come!

TOES FOR DANCE supports and develops the professional contemporary dance community by creating unique and valuable platforms for artistic exchange, public engagement and dance education.
