Sugar Space Foundation and SLC Tap have collaborated to produce their fourth tap dance-intensive workshop in Salt Lake City, stimulating the art of tap and pushing the form to greater heights. Here's an opportunity for tap students and teachers to be exposed to professional guest artists, improve technical skills, and add flair to their artistry, while making connections and building Utah's tap community.
A highlight of the unique two-day festival will be "Hoofin': The Story of Tap" a community outreach event that will entertain, educate and stimulate interest in tap's past, present and future.
Master tap professionals Tasha Lawson from Calgary, and Gerson Lanza from New York will be our featured guest artists, as well as Utah master teachers Rowland Butler, Colleen West, Wendi Isaacson and Debby Robertson.
Utah TapFest will offer TWO full days of classes, including a tap teacher-training class, beginner through advanced technique classes, tap improvisation, body percussion, and so much more. All ages are welcome. Previous tap experience is necessary.
*This project, in conjunction with Sugar Space Foundation, is supported in part by the Utah Department of Arts and Museums and the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Fest will conclude on Saturday with a "cutting contest" and an informal performance including students, faculty and guests.
