Just in time for Halloween, Roxey Ballet will stage its spectacular, up close and personal production experience of Bram Stokers "Dracula."
RB's groundbreaking and original ballet choreography was created in 2001 and follows the classic Dracula horror story which is set in abstract, 18th century England and tells the tale in a "total theater experience". Roxey Ballet has created an original kaleidoscope of sites, sounds, and music which depicts the range of characters and their emotions of fear, rage, horror, love and passion.
The result is a production that breaks through the normal boundaries of dance performance to draw the audience deeply into the world created by the Roxey Ballet dancers and the company's chief choreographer, Mark Roxey.
"The audiences are as close to the performers as possible. Don't be afraid, they don't bite... unless you are on stage" said Mark Roxey, Artistic Director.
The audience will recognize the unwary Renfield who accidentally falls victim to the vampire on his way to the gala at the ball; the lovely Lucy, whose beauty attracts Dracula, who seduces her; and Dr. Van Helsing who leads the attack to rescue Lucy and the others who have fallen prey to the vampires attack. Dracula features outstanding choreography and a presentation that is not your typical dance performance experience and runs through Halloween. The set is abstract and minimalist, created by Lisa McMillan. Costumes are created by Nilda Roxey Jones and Alicia Worden.
All performances are held at Canal Studio Theater located at 243 North Union Street, Lambertville, New Jersey. Performances will run from October 25th through November 3rd. Tickets are 28 in advance and 30 at the door. This spooktacular Halloween treat is suited for children over the age of 8.
