Ren Gyo Soh will bring SHINKA to Triskelion Arts' Muriel Schulman Theater (106 Calyer Street, Brooklyn - Greenpoint) on Friday, July 15th at 8pm.
SHINKA explores the mystery of living beings. We are born; we grow, struggle, suffer, and finish the cycle. A life cycle. We create; we destroy, and again create. Mankind has developed society rapidly. Where are we going? What do we want? Fear for death, hope for life; anger, jealousy, grudges, ambition, dreams and love. Why do we fight? We are all part of this eco-system; we are one. We are an aggregate of conscious energy, evolving every single day, every single moment, together.
By using Japanese Butoh, Trish Arnold Movement, contemporary dance, and other theatrical elements, we explore and express life itself, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually through SHINKA. Lighting Design by Derek Van Heel, Costume Design (A Green Bird) by Deepshikha Chatterjee, Costumes by The Ume Group, Stage Managed by Annie McCoy, The cast features Jordan Rosin, Chris Carlone, Byron Hagan, Leah Marie Beltran, Clara Kundin and Yokko.
SHIN-KA is a Japanese word. The meaning of the word changes depending on the Japanese characters you choose. The meanings include Evolution, Truth, Deepening, Fire in your Heart (Anger, Jealousy, Grudges, Passion), Holy fire, Holy song, and Divinity.
