Red Bull BC One, the world's most prestigious B-boy competition kicks off its North American battle series on April 20 in search of the best b-boys on the continent. The qualifying battle series begins with regional cyphers hosted in Houston (April 20), Philadelphia (April 25), Las Vegas (May 18), Chicago (June 8), and Orlando (June 30). Winners of these cyphers advance to the Red Bull BC One National Finals in Houston on August 17, 2013. The National Champion will be flown to Seoul, Korea to compete against the best of the best in the World Finals this November.
Now in its 10th year, Red Bull BC One has earned the reputation as a showcase for the world's best b-boys. While many competitions focus on crew battles, Red Bull BC One's one-on-one, single elimination battle format focuses on talents and strength of the individual dancer.
Red Bull BC One champions have been featured on television, movies, video games, performed in theatre and concerts around the world. As one of the elements of hip hop, b-boying began in New York in the 1980's and has experienced resurgence in popularity around the globe. The first Red Bull BC One was hosted in 2004 in Switzerland. Since then, the annual competition has moved from Germany to Russia, South Africa, France, USA and Japan, with last year's event being held in Rio De Janiero, Brazil. The Red Bull BC One championship title remains the most coveted prize in B-Boying, and will celebrate its tenth anniversary this year during the world finals in Seoul, South Korea this November.
