PS122 and The Invisible Dog Art Center Present US Premiere of David Wampach's SACRE, 1/10-1/14

As part of the eighth edition of the COIL festival, Performance Space 122 (PS122) and The Invisible Dog Art Center present the U.S. premiere of SACRE, from French choreographer David Wampach and his company Association Achles. Performed by Wampach and dancer Tamar Shelef, SACRE is a radical reimagining of Vaslav Nijinsky's The Rite of Spring. The duet attempts to maintain the earthy, wild dissonance of the 1913 original.

The premiere of Nijinsky's The Rite of Spring is both a legendary scandal and a milestone in dance history. Drawing inspiration from filmmaker Jean Rouch and photographer Trude Fleischmann, Wampach's SACRE opens a new perspective on this historic work. With a minimalist setting and a grotesque and eerie touch, SACRE is an extreme experience-one that leaves performers exhausted.

Performances of SACRE will take place January 10, 11, 14 at 7:30pm and January 13 at 5pm at The Invisible Dog Art Center (51 Bergen Street in Brooklyn). The event is free.
