Philadelphia's most celebrated Dance Company, PHILADANCO, returns to celebrate their 44th season with a special tribute performance to Choreographer Christopher L. Huggins from Friday through Sunday, December 6 - 8 in Perelman Theater.

Known for their electrifying dance moves mixing energized modern dance with the elegance of classical ballet, the Dance Company will perform from six compilations of Huggins' work, including the Philadelphia premieres of The List, When Dawn Comes, Love is..., his signature Enemy Behind The Gate, the elegant Blue, and the return of PIFA 2013 premiere, The Big Bang! As one of the most praised young African American male choreographers, Huggins' work has been recognized for breaking barriers and bridging cultural divides.

Christopher Huggins has a long standing relationship with Philadanco, harkening back to his early days as a choreographer of Danco on Danco. A former member of the renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, he is currently a faculty member at The Ailey School and most recently choreographed for Disney in Orlando, Florida, and the 50th Anniversary Opening Night Gala for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.

Philadanco recently made the world premiere of JAmes Brown: Get on the Good Foot at the Apollo Theater in New York City on October 22. The company continues to tour and preview the new work in Lafayette, Louisiana, where they stayed for a two week residency, as well as tour stops in Atlanta, Georgia, Rialto, California, and upcoming performances in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Los Angeles, California.

Joan Myers Brown, founder of Philadanco, is the recent recipient of the 2012 National Medal of the Arts award presented by President Obama, and the 2013 DanceUSA Honor Award for extraordinary leadership and vision in Dance.

Tickets are available for $29 - $46 and can be purchased by calling 215-893-1999, online at kimmelcenter.org, at the KimMel Center box office, Broad & Spruce streets (open daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
