The company that last graced the Northrop stage in 2011 returns with its ever-popular adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Featuring spine-tingling choreography, thrilling theatrical effects, and a live orchestra, this is a Halloween extravaganza full of haunting tricks and mesmerizing treats.
Established in 1939 as the Winnipeg Ballet Club, Canada's Royal Winnipeg Balletwas granted its royal title under the reign of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953 after she experienced the beauty and grace that each of the ballerina's consistently brought (and continue to bring) to the stage. As the longest continuously operating ballet company in North America, they are known for their numerous interpretations of classic, theatrical works including Wonderland, premiering in the U.S. at Northrop in 2011, and the wildly successful Moulin Rouge - The Ballet- which also premiered at Northrop-in 2009.
On October 20 the company will transport the audience into the mysterious world of Dracula, in a haunting adaptation by choreographer Mark Godden. Set to a score comprised of music by Gustav Mahler played by a live orchestra, Dracula is the balletic spectacle of the fall season.
