New York Live Arts presents Barnard/Columbia Dances at New York Live Arts, November 20-22 at 7:30pm and November 22 at 2pm. Barnard/Columbia Dances, now in its tenth season, continues to work with New York Live Arts to connect students to the world of professional dance by commissioning premieres from contemporary artists. This year, Barnard and Columbia dancers will perform original works by four women choreographers-Patricia Hoffbauer, Sam Kim, Pam Tanowitz and Colleen Thomas-in celebration of Barnard's 125th anniversary as a leader in women's education

Patricia Hoffbauer's Introverted Spectacle uses movement, music and text to examine issues of violence and consent in a social context within the iconography of postmodern aesthetics. A new work for eight dancers, Hoffbauer once again collaborates with writer/performer George Emilio Sanchez.

Sam Kim's ICUCM (working title), which stands for "I see you seeing me," upends the positions of "do-er" and viewer, providing multiple vantage points from which to view the work. In ICUCM, the performers amplify the intimacy and risk of truly seeing one another and radically accept being seen.

There's no telling what the future may hold, by Pam Tanowitz, is set to "Early that summer," a string quartet by Julia Wolfe. The movement has a direct relation to form and structure, bringing traditional arrangements into a modern-day expression.

Collen Thomas' Her(e) Again Untitled continues her research on the experience of womanhood, how it manifests itself physically, and how it can shape a woman's sense of self, confidence and social interactions. In collaboration with her dancers, Thomas builds a world that simultaneously reveals the vulnerability and the strength of the exposed, expressive female body.

Performances will take place in New York Live Arts' Theater. Tickets are $20 for the general public; $12 for students with a valid ID. Tickets may be purchased online at newyorklivearts/season, by phone at 212-924-0077 and in person at the box office. Box office hours are Monday to Friday from 1 to 9pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 9pm.
