About The Show- Tze Chun Dance Company (TCDC) presents three works: Parlour GamesPhase Vidcoder v2.0 (premiere), and Out and About (2008). (work in progress),Parlour Games examines our current culture of entertainment by investigating victorian parlor games of the late 18th century. The work will eventually be performed as a series of site-specific performances that will take place in five different Brooklyn Brownstones (on the "Parlour Floors") over the course of 5 weekends March-May 2010. Phase Vidcoder v2.0 is an audio-video collaboration between TCDC and composer Daniel Iglesia, who utilizes cutting-edge technology to create multi-media performances using live video feed of dancers. In the experimental work Out and About, choreographer Tze Chun explores the new context for culture and politics being created by today's younger generation and the comfort with which they document previously private aspects of their lives. Out and About is an experiment in the limits of inhibition. Dancers consume actual alcohol over the course of the 28-minute work and, as they toy with the real effects of alcohol and its consequences both physical and social, audience members are implicated as by-standers to the self-destruction they are witnessing.
Performed by: Jules Bakshi, Tony Bordonaro, Tze Chun, Elisa Davis, Eileen Farrell, Meghan Frederick, Renuka Hines, Seth Miner, Katherine Richardson, Dana Thomas, and Ilana Webber
