MachineHDance (machinehdance.com), a contemporary dance company under the artistic and executive direction of Stephanie Deere, will produce its first evening-length production -- SPRING CLEANING, an interactive and partially improvised dance theater show -- tonight and tomorrow, March 25th and 26th at 8:00pm at the Williamsburg Movement and Arts Center (347 Grand St, Brooklyn 11211).
SPRING CLEANING explores the common American tradition of the same name through dance, improvisation, comedy, and interaction with the audience. One of Miss Deere's main goals as a choreographer is to "truly engage our audience. Not only do I want them to love what they see, I want them to know that they were a part of it."
Much of the production will be created in real time with input from the audience. In addition to engaging with viewers, MachineHDance seeks to grow its community. "I want viewers from many backgrounds with various interests to be able to enjoy our work - not just other dancers. SPRING CLEANING has many layers that make it a fun and viewer-friendly performance."
The show has been collaboratively developed between Stephanie Deere and six other MachineHDance company members: Chloe Benitez, Cristina Gustaitis, Ali Herring, Abby Marchesseault, Rachel Nuñez, and Rebecca Teicheira. Popular culture permeates the production, making the company's commentary on SPRING CLEANING hilarious and digestible. Audience members will see the company incorporate text, props, costume changes, and various dance styles within the hour long production.
Tickets are by donation, and admission is first-come-first-served! Beer or Wine is included for each person over the age of 21. For more information, visit machinehdance.com/upcomingperformances or email Stephanie Deere at info@machinehdance.com.
